squirmy worm
The last time that I posted (about a week and a half ago) after I got off the computer, Zach and I both felt the baby move, from the outside, for the first time. It is so fun to feel her moving around in there all the time. Throughout the day she is super active.
This week marks the end of my second trimester. I've really felt a big difference in my body in the last couple of weeks. I feel like my belly is sticking out two feet further and my ability to bend/twist/stand up has become a little more difficult. When we get busy at work I feel quite a bit of back pain, but besides that, I really feel like I've had a fairly easy pregnancy. I have a lot to be thankful for and not much to complain about!
Zach and I ordered a rocking chair today. It is one we fell in love with, at a little shop on the island, before we even started trying to get pregnant. It was a lot of money so we looked and looked around and tried and tried to find something different, but nothing really even came close to comparing to the one we found originally. It was so fun to pick out the fabric and put the order in knowing that it is the PERFECT choice for us! It is supposed to arrive in 8-12 weeks, so it will be right on time for our little baby.
A few people have asked, so I will say that we have chosen a name for her. We both had a favorite name since I was JUST pregnant, before we even knew she was girl. But, we are keeping it a secret until she is born.
Zach has started to paint the canvases that will go up in her room. They are turning out beautifully. Once it is all up and put together I will take pictures for everyone to see. I am so excited for it all to come together.

24 week visit
Another Drs visit come and gone already. Heartbeat still sounds perfect. She is right on track!
I already have stretchmarks on my stomach. I can't believe they are here already, but I knew they would come at some point. My back still continues to hurt quite a bit, but I did get some new work shoes that seem to be helping a lot. I'm still sleeping fairly well and the rest of my body feels great! Each day I look in the mirror my body is changing, making it all feel more and more real.
Zach and I registered at Babies R Us this past weekend. It is hard to know what will work well/is necessary vs what is just junk that will sit in the corner, but we did our best with the knowledge we have. We tried to stick to stuff that we'll need in the first 12 months, since we are planning to stay in our one bedroom apartment and won't have much extra space.
For those who haven't seen our apartment, we do have a nice walk-in closet between our living room and bedroom that we will be using for the baby's room. It has built in drawers, a desk top we can use as a changing table space, and plenty of room for a crib. Our building was built in 1913 and was Generals' housing for the Navy. So, the walk-in closet was actually made to be an office that we have been using as a coat closet, but we have taken all our stuff out and filled it all up with baby stuff.
Each week goes by faster as we both get more and more excited for her arrival. It feels good to feel so ready for all that is coming!

Everything has been going well for us these past few weeks. My back has really started to feel the strain, but other than that I really don't have anything to complain about. We enjoyed both a quiet Christmas and quiet New Years Eve at home this year. They were both so peaceful and relaxing. It was nice to be able to spend time with each other, play games, eat yummy food, and just enjoy each other. We have really been enjoying all the quiet moments with each other over these past few months. We are just as excited for all excitement and joy coming our way, but we understand our life will never be the same, and we want to enjoy these moments too, just as we are now. It was hard, as it always is around the holidays, to be so far away from all of our family, but we are starting to make our own traditions and are finding ways to celebrate on our own.
After Christmas sales were too good to resist, especially after we had just found out that "baby" is a girl. We had lots of fun shopping the clearance racks for little girl outfits. We didn't buy too many, but there were a few that we just couldn't say no to.
We are hoping to visit Nebraska the middle of February, but Zach still hasn't heard back from his bosses yet if that time will be approved or not. We know it will be many months before we return again, so we'd like the get a good trip in while it is still fairly simple to do. We will let the masses know once the verdict is in!
