Mama's 30th birthday party/parties

Zach had told me, back around the day of my birthday, that he had an idea he wanted to do, but he just didn't see how he would have the time to do it. He had just taken a new position and was trying to tie up ends with his old position, while diving in head first to the new position. It was a time filled with stress and little family time together. Knowing the stress he was under, I sadly told him not to worry about it. Now that things have settled back down a bit, Zach and Juni surprised me with a super fun 30th birthday party.

My hubby knows how much I truly love holidays, and celebrating them, even in little ways, to make the day fun and special. He and Juni spent Friday morning, while I was at work, setting up a different holiday/party in each room of our house. Here is a glimpse of the fun which also included bubbles, poppers (the little fireworks you throw at the sidewalk), stickers, themed books, and more!

(NOT FACEBOOK OFFICIAL please do NOT comment on Facebook) Now for some good news!

Juni has loved babies for months and months, and now she will be getting one of her own!! ;)

She is beyond excited that there is a little baby in Mama's tummy. She likes to talk to it and rub it and often tells me, "Mama, I like the baby in your tummy, A LOT! :)"

We are excited for our growing family and excited for Juni's excitement too. As she watched the washcloth balloon up in the bath water the other night she said, "Look, Mama, it has a baby in its tummy!" ...my first realization that she understands my tummy is changing shape ;)

We have done some prenatal yoga together that I received for my birthday and Juni loved doing the "stretches" more than I anticipated.

I used some birthday money last night to go out for pizza with our little family and as we were leaving the restaurant there was a man with a big belly and Juni oh-so-politely asked, "Mama, does he have a belly in his tummy too?" Oh, my sweet sweet girl, "No sweetheart, some people just have a big tummy."

Favorite craving so far: Peanut butter, bacon, and MUSTARD sandwiches!! The mustard is the most important part, as you can see. hahahahaha :)

Our little bun is cooking away with an estimated due date of Feb 5th!

Lately, life in Vallejo

Life has been a bit overwhelming lately.
Zach got a promotion putting him in Oakland full time which makes the commute extra long and painful, which means less time together as a family.
Our garage was broken into and thousands of dollars worth of stuff stolen, thankfully very little of it was sentimental.
Random people ring our doorbell for random things.... people whose name they don't know, sob stories that require money, etc.
Our oven has not worked less than it has worked.
Our lovely neighbors who shared a wall with Juni's room moved across the street and hood-rat neighbors moved in who yell and scream at ALL hours of the day (8am, 2pm, 5pm, 6pm, 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 2am, etc.) We moved Juni's mattress into our room, so she can still sleep in her own bed if she wants. I feel like these scoundrels stole her innocence and I can't tell you how angry that makes me. I never wanted Juni to sit in a room and hear screaming like that on the other side of a wall. It hurts my heart more than I can bear. We do play in there still and if anything starts up, we immediately leave the room, close the doors, and talk about how those people aren't nice and how it makes Mama sad that they are not nice. I have never felt more aggressive towards anyone in my life. Thankfully, I am always with little Juni-O, so I use my words :), and move on. Confrontation would not help this situation. We plan to tell the landlord, but as we are actively searching for a new apartment in Alameda anyway, we don't want to make him feel like he needs to kick them out for us, but I'm sure the whoever moves in here after us, will not be any happier with them than we are.
Our credit card number was stolen, but thankfully the card company caught it before any charges were approved.
We feel a bit like we are drowning, but we are hanging on and leaning on each other for support. We never imagined we would be paying $900 a month in gas and tolls. So, yes, we do want to move back to Alameda, closer to both our jobs, and where we all feel safe. We are just taking our time to find the right place with enough room for all of us! Wish us luck!!

Lately, Life with Juni

Up until a few weeks ago, Juni would only sing by herself, or have you sing for her. Now, she will sing WITH you!! Hooray! This makes Mama very happy! She always wants the radio on in the car. She loves to dance at any given moment she hears music... the car, the restaurant, the store. She'll stop in her place, get up, or even if she can't, and start to move!

She is now counting to 10, completely and fully without stopping, skipping, or repeating :) so now we are moving on into the teens. She can sing Itsy Bitsy Spider, Twinkle Twinkle, ABCs, Ba Ba Black Sheep, and some songs from music class all on her own. She for sure knows all of her colors. All of these things have been true for weeks, I just forget that you all don't know that, so I wanted to catch you up :)

Juni LOVES to paint! even though it means she has to put her hair in a pony to do so (which she definitely does not love!!) Her love for stickers, playdoh, and sidewalk chalk is still strong, however she has a new love for puppets!! and a renewed love for babies, babies, and more babies!!!

Favorite Foods: pickles, tacos, Jelly Belly Sours, chips, almost any meat, and of course still eggs with cheese and noodles, always

Favorite Words: Her bluebird song from music class:
Bluebird, bluebird sing good morning, Bluebird, bluebird sing good day. Look at that horse, Look at that horse, that horse is as yellow as he can be. Oopsey daisy fiddle dee dee, come and play in the garden with me, meow. Hush little doggie, hush little cat, cuddle up now and take a nap. The little mouse is sleeping, sleeping, sleeping. The little mouse is sleeping, in the house. Rue rue que. Rue rue que. Rue rue rue rue. Rue rue que. Rue rue que. Rue rue rue rue.
She knows the whole song, but the bluebird, horse, and rue rue que are her favorite parts :)

Firsts: Wheelbarrow walking! This girl is strong! Getting frozen yogurt and picking her own toppings. She pretty much ate the toppings and Mama ate the yogurt :)

Swimming with Mama on a Saturday when Papa was working
Eating frozen blueberries and wearing shoes she found in the back of Jamba Juice
Juni with her super favorite neighbor, Hannah, on the 4th of July
 Successful handprints; hooray!
excited to choose the next color!
I bought two cupcakes while we were out to share as a family when we got home. Zach and I were carrying things inside, then found this in the kitchen :) :) :) :)

How can you be mad at that?!?

So, when Aunt Lisa and family had these shipped to Mama for her birthday, Juni was beyond excited. As soon as Juni woke up from her nap that day and saw them, we shared 3 as a family. She LOVED them.
This is how sad she was when I told her we had to wait to eat the rest :(
Her new love: (Having Mama) take baby's clothes on and off
 'just brushin' my teeth'
 4th of July parade

helping Juicy play with her toys

 Another new love: taking pictures
Favorite subjects: Mama, Papa, and Juicy
 "Cheese! (click) Cheese! (click)"
 "Cheese! (click)"
Aunt Clancy and Uncle Stu came to visit.
Juni is still asking for them almost every day... two weeks later :(
 sleeping with her baby
 Eating a little "cheese"
...but still taking her job very seriously
 hugging another baby, Charlie
*Correction: Apparently this doll is called "Chollie" ...I think. My husband told me how to spell it but now I forgot. I thought Juni was having trouble pronouncing Charlie, but she was saying what her Papa taught her. Now, say it aloud.... see, it sounds like Charlie, with an accent :)
pretending to go night night with Charlie (Chollie?)
 my little hipster ;)

she still melts my heart every day
